Indonesian Police Chief: People’s Safety Is the Highest Law

JakartaToday | Police Chief of the Republic of Indonesia General Idham Azis, through his announcement, explicitly forbade him from carrying out activities which were to gather mass both in public places and in his own environment.

The announcement numbered Mak / 2 / lll / 2020 is also a form of compliance with government policy in handling the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19).

Police Chief of the Republic of Indonesia Gen. Idham Azis said that the National Police in providing protection to the community always refers to the people’s safety as the highest law.

“Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto, people’s safety is the highest law,” said National Police Chief General Idham Azis in his statement on Thursday (3/26).

After the announcement was issued, in order to reduce the spread of the virus that has not been found vaccines, the ranks of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) have dispersed 1,371 masses in Indonesia.

Even more than that, if the public insists and does not heed the appeal of the apparatus not to crowd, they are threatened with criminal sanctions with multi-layered articles starting with Article 212, 216 and 218 of the Criminal Code up to article 14 of Law No. 4/1984 About Infectious Disease and Article 93 of Law No. 6/2018 About Health Quarantine.(Monti)
